2014 Porsche 911 GT3 Debut at Geneva

The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 has made its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show. This model joins the fleet in time to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 car, and what better venue than the most decadent auto show of the season!

The 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 is fresh and bold. CEO of Porsche, Matthias Mueller, presents the Porsche 911 GT3 on the eve of the first press day of the 83rd Geneva International Motor Show, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Porsche 911 GT3 incorporates the latest 911 architecture and substantial upgrades to the engine, suspension, transmission and overall aesthetics. Under the hood is a 3.8-liter flat-six engine derived from the Carrera S and upgraded. The Porsche Carrera S won Robb Report’s Car of the Year.

The Porsche 911 GT3 engine specs:

  • 3.8-liter flat-six
  • 468 horses
  • 323 lb-ft of torque
  • 7-speed PDK dual-clutch sequential automated transmission
  • Destroys the 0-60 sprint in 3.3 blistering seconds
  • Hits 100 miles per hour in 7.5 clicks with a top speed of 195 miles per hour

This is the first time the GT3 will not be made available with a conventional manual gearbox. Porsche showcases the PDK unit’s faster shift intervals and closely spaced ratio set. This model has Launch Control and new paddles on the steering wheel that allow the driver to engage neutral by pulling back on both simultaneously.

Handling has been improved with a revised chassis featuring custom aluminum suspension elements, stronger shocks and an electronically controlled rear differential lock. The system steers the rear wheels, improving agility and safety when taking on corners.

20-inch center-lock lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin or Dunlop performance tires grip the road or track

In the appearance arena, the new 911 GT3 boasts a wider body, a fixed rear wing, functional air vent ahead of hood, new front splitter and a lower diffuser with dual center-mounted exhaust outlets. The appearance is true to the brand, with just a handful of tweaks. This model will be available soon with an MSRP of $131,350.
