Luxury carmaker Aston Martin has been building cars for a long time…since 1914! The brand is feverishly prepping for its 100th anniversary, with a multitude of special events that will culminate with a James Bond inspired road trip around England and Wales! An Italian firm now owns 37.5 shares of Aston Martin, but the British vibe and the 007 vibe will carry the celebrations. There will also be another enviable collection of Aston Martin models on display.
The brand detailed their centenary celebration plans recently, even creating a special logo to mark the milestone. The 100th anniversary logo includes a staggering 99 points leading to a red ‘100’ and is inspired by a nautilus shell.
Aston Martins have been the preferred ride of 007, the fictional British spy and worldwide action flick icon.
The celebrations will commence this July. There will be a concours event held in London to feature the “100 Most Iconic Aston Martin Cars” to kickstart the weeklong festivities. The brand hopes to bring together the largest number of Astons in history. This goal is rather reminiscent of the Ferrari world record attempts!
The history of the Aston Martin name:
Founded on January 15, 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford, the company was originally called “Bamford & Martin”. The Bamford was dropped in favor of Aston to depict Bramford’s success at the Aston Clinton Hillclimb. The Hillclimb was the first venue where the founders raced their dream machines.
For those already frantically pricing airline tickets, the James Bond-themed road trip will also feature a few of the Bond film locations. Secure an Aston Martin rental and join the fun! Sorry, we do not have an Imagine Lifestyles London location yet!
