Aston Martin has added a fifth car to its already ambitious lineup for the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit! The classic endurance race organizer, Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) has granted entry to a reserve car for Aston Martin. The reserve car for Aston Martin Le Mans is car 98. Recently, the brand paid homage to its GT4 racing success with the Aston Martin Vantage SP10 racer, which is a killer specimen.
2013 Aston Martin Vantage GTE racecar
All five Aston Martin cars competing in Le Mans will be the latest 2013 Vantage GTE racers. The fifth Aston Martin racecar will run in the GTE Pro class rather than the GTE Am thanks to a reclassification from the ACO.
Team Aston Martin is preparing for its assault on Le Mans with the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 16th
Aston Martin returned to GT racing just last year and snagged 3rd place in the GTE Pro class. This year may be a bit more challenging, however, as three of the Astons will be bracing head-to-head with the like of Ferrari, Porsche and the Viper GTS-R in the GTE Pro class. The other two Aston cars will compete in the GTE Am class. It is unknown if car 98 will be in the full World Endurance Championship along with its four siblings. Aston Martin is celebrating its centenary birthday, so a big win at Le Mans would certainly generate more momentum for the occasion!
