Bugatti Backs Down From a Race Challenge?

The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has a top speed of 267 miles per hour, making it the fastest car in the world (right now). So what menacing supercar scared the Bugatti Veyron SS out of a fair-and-square track race?

According to the automotive rumormill, to which I am an avid addict, that would be the Venom GT by John Hennessey. Haven’t heard of him? He is quickly becoming legend in the states, where his supercar creations are typically over 1,000 horses and built to rip the air out of the atmosphere. Not convinced? Let’s get right down to comparative specs.

Hennessey’s Venom GT specifications:
•    0-200 mph in 15.9 seconds (Bugatti accomplishes this in 24.2 seconds)
•    0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds (Veyron is about the same)
•    Top speed is 275 mph, Veyron is 267
•    1200 horsepower
•    2,685 lbs total weight

If the Bugatti Veyron SS did indeed shy away from a full confrontation, I assume they were familiar with Hennessey and his gravity-defying exotic sports car arsenal, Jay Leno is. Leno invited the Venom GT for a visit to his modest garage, brimming with exotic and classic cars!

I doubt this challenge will simply vaporize, and you can likely anticipate a race between the two for the title of fastest supercar someday!  Don’t miss our fleet of fast and fabulous luxury rental cars in Chicago, New York and Miami on your way out!
