Mercedes-Benz Checkmates in Frankfurt with Shape Shifting Concept

Mercedes-Benz IAA

So Mercedes-Benz just created a real transformer. The Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile (IAA) has just taken the annual Frankfurt Auto Show by storm—showcasing the first-ever automobile capable of changing shapes whilst driving down the road.

This technology is different than just the typical automotive ability to produce a rear wing at high speeds. The Mercedes-Benz IAA is essentially a shape shifter, able to alter its physical form at speeds exceeding 50 miles per hour. To make it even cooler, depending on preference, it is a hybrid. read more

Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE63: A Raging Beast

Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE63

Never a brand to take the backseat approach–Mercedes-Benz is challenging others in the SUV arena with the rather robust AMG coupe. This luxury beast is pulsating with power and holds true to that distinctive brand curb appeal we all love so much. The Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE63 is being called a coupe, but has an interesting blend of an SUV and a coupe.

It is simply not sufficient to offer a premium vehicle on the market these days—it must also offer plenty in the performance arena. The idea of a performance SUV was not all that huge in the past, with brands like Land Rover pretty much dominating and handling that area. Now, more contenders are entering the arena with their fuel efficient, luxurious and performance-driven SUV offerings and things are fueled up for pure exhilaration for the foreseeable future. read more

Mercedes-Benz to Offer Pick-Up Lines?

Mercedes-Benz truck

Mercedes-Benz is known predominantly for its exotic sports car and sedan offerings. The brand is also no stranger to SUVs, vans and superior off-roading beasts like the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG and the G500. So is it an April Fool’s Day jest, or will there be a Mercedes-Benz pick-up truck offering?

The renderings of a potential Mercedes-Benz pick-up truck have ignited rumors that the luxury automaker could be changing course and entering the pick-up truck market. According to Mercedes-Benz CEO Dieter Zetsche: “The Mercedes-Benz pickup will contribute nicely to our global growth targets. We will enter this segment with our distinctive brand identity and all of the vehicle attributes that are typical of the brand with regard to safety, comfort, powertrains and value.” The fairly cut-and-dry statement of intent was released along with the teaser rendering featured above. read more

100 Beastly Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6 Units Have Sold—Production Ends

Mercedes-Benz G63 6x6

The creative Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6 rolled onto the scene back in 2013 on her 6 wheels. The typical rumor topics swirled, including pricing, specs and number of units. Against all odds, 100 units of the G63 6×6 have sold in just two years…at $400,000+ each!

Initially, Mercedes-Benz approached the idea with supreme caution, creating just two units and gauging customer demand. That demand ended up being quite large for the interesting vehicle, with orders pouring in regardless of the high price tag. It seems that vehicles with a distinct sense of style and personality tend to attract and maintain a steady fanbase: Think Land Rover, Jeep and now the Mercedes-Benz G63 6×6. So why in the world is the brand pulling the plug on the model after unloading 100 units? It could just be a case of quitting while ahead. It is not clear if Mercedes-Benz will accept special orders for the 6×6 at anytime down the road. read more

Production Version Of Mercedes-Benz Vision GT Coming?

Mercedes-Benz Vision GT

The Mercedes-Benz Vision GT is perhaps the most stunning concept ever created by the brand. While it was assumed that the Mercedes-Benz Vision Grand Turismo shall exist only in the virtual realm, the Vision GT could actually be gearing up for an unconventional production run.

The rumors and confusion about the real car were ignited by a James Edition post. The post is offering a shiny new Mercedes-Benz Vision GT for $1.5 million. The company behind the sale is Florida based J&S World Wide Holdings, which has a vision to build the Vision on the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. read more

Mercedes-Benz Proclaims 2015 ‘Year of the SUV’

Mercedes-Benz

Amid all of the action building up in Detroit for the annual motor show, Mercedes-Benz announced that 2015 shall be the ‘Year of the SUV’. What that means, according to Daimler AG’s Dieter Zetsche is that the marque will be bestowing four new luxury SUV’s onto the market.

Mercedes-Benz proclaimed that 2015 is to be the “year of the SUV” this past Sunday in Detroit.

Among the new SUV offerings will be the recently revealed Mercedes-Benz GLE coupe, and sibling GLE 450 coupe:

  • The Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG: This nice lady is the range-topper. She is a crossover packing a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 577 thirsty horses. The 0-60 mile per hour jump is achieved in 4.2 seconds.
  • The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG: This SUV sibling is a sports coupe that will help begin the new lineup of automobiles carrying the “GL” badging. Similar to the E-Class, she is mid-sized. Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 paired with a 9-speed automated gearbox pushing her from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds.

The new GLE SUV is a bit of a SUV/coupe hybrid in terms of styling cues and performance specifications. It is intended to provide all of the expected perks of owning an SUV, such as ruggedness, but with all the sporty grace of a sleek coupe car. According to Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG Board of Management: “The timing is just right. The market for SUV’s is only getting stronger. It is a sporty coupe with SUV genes.” read more
