A Golf Cart that Costs More than a Porsche Boxster? Really?

Garia Soliel de Minuit Golf Cart When we heard about a golf cart that will set you back more than a Porsche Boxster, we were intrigued.  Scratching our gearheads, we then learned that the luxury golf cart is actually manufactured in Porsche’s factory in Finland.

Here is where the confusion comes into play:  Who in their right mind would drop $52,000 on a golf cart, when they could have a Porsche Boxster for $45,000-$55,000 (depending on the add-ons you select).  If anyone chooses the golf cart, they better already have a Boxster or something better….or be Tiger Woods.  Hey, does it come with a portable bedroom for that price?  He may get tired during the course of the game.

Just Store Your Lambo in Your Living Room, Like this Guy

There is definitely a sense of pride that accompanies the ownership of an exotic car, like a Ferrari, LaKRE House Lamborghini Garagemborghini, Maserati and the like.  This pride can often evolve into an extremely creative idea by an owner, like a man in Tokyo who hired designer Takyua Tsuchida to transform his home into a display for his exotic cars.

His main request?  That the Lamborghini be visible from the living room.  And with the push of a button, the Lambo can actually enter the living room.  We like the way this guy thinks, we would rather watch our plasma screen T.V.’s from the comfort of our…Lamborghini.

Cash for Exotics? The Cash for Clunkers Twist

The government’s “Cash for Clunkers” program generated much fuss, including a rumor that some of the relinquished cars turned in for credit were rare exotic and luxury cars.  Cash for Clunkers

The nature of the “Cash for Clunkers” program is to provide people with an incentive to become more “green”, by giving them a cash credit to turn in their older model gas guzzlers, which are then crushed.  No one in his or her right mind would crush a rare exotic, right?

It would be shocking for anyone to actually crush an exotic collectors car.  It seems that some of the models were incorrectly entered into the computer, as a Mercury Grand Marquis was entered as an Aston Martin.  Like anyone is going to give their Aston Martin to “Cash for Clunkers” for a measly 5 grand.  Owners of Astons do not need five grand, and take pride in their exotics.  The story holds no validity.

Aston Martin owners hearing of this mix-up once it hit the rumor-mill must have been thoroughly amused.  If you are not an owner, remember you can still indulge in an Aston Martin rental to feel the full-effect of the luxury car.  Or maybe stop by the Cash for Clunkers lot and scan the contents for a great deal on an Aston (sorry, couldn’t stop myself).
