Auto shows are exciting venues to get the details on the latest offerings and see how brands are evolving–and sometimes there are exotic car crashes. There is always the risk of danger when crowds gather near vehicles in operation, as was the case at the Malta Motor Show. Malta is a small island off the southern coast of Italy. It was there that a Porsche 918 spyder operated by British tycoon Paul Bailey hit some grass with a rear wheel, cleared a barrier and spun into the crowd of onlookers off a runway. read more

Porsche 919 Sold On Ebay Did Not Even Have An Engine

Porsche 919

The Porsche 919 is so well-loved that people will spend top dollar to have one…even without an engine. Porsche sold a 919 on Ebay recently for $106k that completely lacked the hybrid engine, but rather, included the appropriate measures to be mounted to a wall.

Is this the little engine that couldn’t even? Not so fast. The Porsche 919 model is such an enormous sensation that people will drop over $100k just to own the shell.

The Porsche 919 body was listed on the popular sales website as a non-functional unit and proceeds went to benefit Singapore’s SportCares Foundation, which is a focused movement using sport as a force for social good. The company describes it in the ad as a 1:1 Model Car chassis, whatever that means. Without a drivetrain, the supercar will make but a splendid art display for some lucky petrol head out there. read more

Porsche Is Making The Most Money for Volkswagen Group

Porsche sales

It seems that popular Porsche is certainly pulling its weight for parent company Volkswagen, bringing in more money than VW offerings. Quick history: Industry giant Volkswagen acquired Porsche back in 2012 following a battle during which both German companies were attempting to purchase the other. Since that time, Porsche sales have continued to flourish.

Fast forward to today and it was a wise decision for VW Group to devour the Porsche brand as it has been an enormous profit. Porsche sales have been incredibly healthy in the past three years, even overshadowing the brand’s flagship VW offerings. While the giant unloaded 25 times more VW models, the Porsche luxury cars brought in more revenue with their dramatically different pricing demands. read more

Steve McQueen Modified Porsche Boasts Kill Switch For Rear Lights

The last Porsche owned by legendary Steve McQueen is officially for sale, and it boasts a rather James Bond style feature: a kill switch on the dash to turn off the rear lights. The star added this modification to several of the vehicles in his fleet, and it does not require a genius to understand the purpose.

That Will Not Buff Out: Porsche Destroyed at Carwash

Porsche crash

A 2014 Porsche 911 convertible driven by 74-year-old Job Taylor went in for a wash, and ended up under the collapsed rubble of the building! It seems that Taylor may have accidently hit the accelerator rather than the brake, nailing a support beam and effectively bringing down the house. At least only a portion of the structure was taken down, it could have been a rather hectic insurance claim if an entire carwash needed replaced along with an exotic sports car.

Ouch: A man accidentally took out a support beam at Olde Cape Car Wash in New Orleans, bringing it down on top of his 2014 Porsche! (Photos by Orleans police). read more
