Owning a luxury car is a thrilling and adrenaline-filled experience, but it needn’t be unsafe. Luxury models such as the Mercedes-Benz S550 and the Lexus RX 350 are featured in the list of the few cars that regularly experience zero traffic fatalities. Renting a vehicle with advanced safety technology is the best thing you can do to keep your family safe, while you indulge in your love for luxury automobiles. So fire up the engine and get ready to experience that thrill, with the confidence that you will be protected in the rare event of an accident.
Auto shows are exciting venues to get the details on the latest offerings and see how brands are evolving–and sometimes there are exotic car crashes. There is always the risk of danger when crowds gather near vehicles in operation, as was the case at the Malta Motor Show. Malta is a small island off the southern coast of Italy. It was there that a Porsche 918 spyder operated by British tycoon Paul Bailey hit some grass with a rear wheel, cleared a barrier and spun into the crowd of onlookers off a runway.
A perhaps new-to-the-game exotic car owner suffered the misfortune of crashing both his beloved Bentley and Lamborghini on the very same day! Reports read that the owner, 21-year-old Elijah Oyefeso, merely laughed-off the double exotic car crash…but we all know he must have wept silently into his car-shaped pillow later that night.
Elijah is said to be a young city trader doing rather well for himself—well enough to acquire and crash pricey exotic cars with nary a care. The clip above provides many angles of the damage to both vehicles.
A 2014 Porsche 911 convertible driven by 74-year-old Job Taylor went in for a wash, and ended up under the collapsed rubble of the building! It seems that Taylor may have accidently hit the accelerator rather than the brake, nailing a support beam and effectively bringing down the house. At least only a portion of the structure was taken down, it could have been a rather hectic insurance claim if an entire carwash needed replaced along with an exotic sports car.
Ouch: A man accidentally took out a support beam at Olde Cape Car Wash in New Orleans, bringing it down on top of his 2014 Porsche! (Photos by Orleans police).
In what could be humorously described as a territorial dispute, the exquisite one-of-a-kind Bugatti L’Or Blanc backed into a precious LaFerrari. It seems that the streets of Paris can be a rough-and-tumble place for a supercar. The unfortunate incident was captured on video for the world to view and cringe. View the LaFerrari Bugatti crash below:
Watch it go down in the short clip above:
Bugatti Veyron L’Or Blanc: The most delicate of supercars is a street bully?
The Bugatti Veyron and the LaFerrari are placed at the top of the list in terms of most expensive and exclusive rides in the world. The chances of seeing the two nearly mythical beasts next to each other are slim, making the encounter that much more shocking. The LaFerrari comes with a price tag exceeding the million-dollar mark, with a list of wannabe buyers as long as a Monday workday. The one-off Bugatti Veyron L’Or Blanc is a special edition slice of glamour featuring delicate porcelain from a rather exclusive firm, and is also well north of the million dollar pricing bracket. Porcelain is not as potent as Kevlar and other materials used in armored vehicles, so why this driver opted to plow into reverse without triple-checking remains a mystery. He seems to just pull onto the road without a care and carry on about his day.
An aging lady driver with a preference for the finer cars in life made headlines by landing upside down in a Bentley. The woman emerged unscathed from the crash, which occurred when she drove the car over a ledge and landed it upside down on top of another car! There were no occupants in the vehicle crushed by the Bentley.
The result looked rather like an expensive game of Tetris. The only photo of the accident comes from the local Athens Banner-Herald, on scene in Georgia.
The car crashed was a 2000 Bentley Arnage, a rather robust and formidable beast which clearly doubles as a protective pod. The Bentley Arnage punishes the scales at around 2.5 tons and boasts an impressive crash test rating—think of them as luxury tanks. Officers on the scene described the state of the car crushed beneath the Arnage, stating that it appeared to have gone through the crusher. Had there been people inside, they surely would not have survived the impact.
Lamborghini crashes and crazy incidents are apparently on the rise recently, with the following two tidbits making headlines: A driver kissing a pole with a Lambo and another rocketing the car into a pond during a drag race…on a track.
The clip above shows a Lamborghini spinning out prior to making a splash in a nearby pond. Why is there a body of water near a track in the first place, lending such damaging potential. Bodies of water belong on golf courses.
The driver of the Lamborghini Gallardo in the video above found himself in hot water during a WannaGOFAST drag race in Florida. The car was tuned by Heffner Performance of Florida and packing over 2,000 horses. The clincher: During the race, the turbos were actually tuned down. Heffner shared: “We had the boost down to minimum, about 17 pounds, That car would have no issue making 2,400 to 2,500 horsepower at the wheels at 40 or 45 pounds of boost.” The driver encountered a patch of debris, which caused him to lose control and careen into a pond. Even the slightest movement of the steering wheel can lead to a complete loss of control in a supercar like this, so driving over something, no matter how small, is dramatic.
How much does a 15-year-old Russian goalie make? They make enough to pay cash for a shiny new Aston Martin, apparently. Young Konstantin P, a goalkeeper for the Zenith-94 team, purchased the exotic sports car and then crashed it just three days later in an accident involving a Volkswagen Tiguan. Exotic car crashes sometimes have fascinating back stories.
The aftermath of the Aston Martin crash: That most definitely will not buff out.
The clincher of this exotic car crash saga is that Konstantin did not have a…you know…driver’s license. While all parties involved are ok, the story is simply outlandish because of the capacity for such a young athlete to afford such extravagances and the fact that it was permitted to proceed unobstructed when he is not even legally allowed to drive. I know what you are thinking: Well, it is Russia.
Who could forget the Bugatti crash from 2009 where a man drove directly into a body of water and blamed a pelican. The video made a splash online, of course, and an even bigger wave through the court system. The verdict is in, and it is ridiculous.
Who can forget this clip? Listen as one occupant says: “I’m pretty sure that’s a Lambo, dude”…I think I clapped like a seal the first time I watched this video years ago.
Case recap: The owner of the Bugatti Veyron is Andy Lee House of Lufkin, Texas. He purchased the $1 million dollar supercar along with $2.2 million in insurance. To the man, the simple plan likely seemed genius. He proceeded to drive the Bugatti into a body of water and then file a claim for his loss. What he did not anticipate was the viral video that became his undoing!
Watch as a $400,000 Lamborghini Aventador loses control on the street and nails two other vehicles and manages to get some air in between. This Lamborghini crash occurred in London’s upscale Knightsbridge section on what would otherwise be an uneventful Sunday afternoon. Note how casually the driver exits the Lambo after all the action.
This video shows the Lamborghini Aventador crashing multiple times, thus saving you the hassle of hitting rewind. Thanks, Shmee150!
Could the temptation of touting an extreme supercar through a busy shopping district brimming with wealth have simply overcome the driver? It appears that showing off can be costly. Once the driver nailed the Mazda 5 hatch and the Nissan Quashqai, it clashes quite audibly with a parked BMW. Aside from the shock of an Aventador rounding a corner like an amateur drifter and smashing into fellow drivers, the most shocking part of the crash is where it appears to momentarily leave the road and sail through the air.
