According to HIS Automotive, a market research firm, there are 727,227 exotic and luxury cars in use in China as of last year.  This figure is expected to reach around 910,000 this year and 1.6 million by 2015.  A large percentage of luxury car buyers in China are between 18-34 years old, a new generation of wealth in the nation.

One such loaded youth has created a stir, reportedly browsing through the Aston Martin booth, and within minutes ordering a compact exotic sports car valued at nearly 4 million yuan before sauntering off.

It is behaviors like this that have the leading car companies of the world clamoring for a slice of China’s luxury car market.  Nothing lasts forever, and it is important for carmakers to take advantage of every sales opportunity, especially when it is one of this caliber.  More than 1,000 Ferrari supercars are driven in China, 120 Aston Martins and a plethora of other impressive brands as the newly wealthy begin to display their status.

The new and highly exclusive Aston Martin One-77 hit the Shanghai Auto Show, providing 5 of the 77-unit run to the Chinese market.  All five $47 million yuan units were sold out prior to the opening of the show!
