Is the Lamborghini Huracan Backup Camera Worth $6k?

Some buyers may scoff at spending $6k on a backup camera, even in a hypercar. But when dropping close to $500k on the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan, it is not crucial to take measures to ensure that parking is not going to be a problem? Parking is, after all, something drivers must do constantly, and with a car like a Lamborghini where it can be a challenge to see out the back, a backup camera could mean the difference between another awesome drive and an expensive repair. Is the Lamborghini Huracan backup camera just the ticket?

The rear view camera and parking sensors for the new Lamborghini Huracan cost buyers an estimated $6k.

That is the reason why spending so much on a backup camera for the Lamborghini Huracan is acceptable. Plus, those spending so much money on a supercar are not typically concerned with where another $6k is going. But wait…parking assist technology and backup cameras are increasingly standard on mid-level vehicles in even the $20k range these days, so why so much Lamborghini?

It does not seem to matter that safety features are quite commonly inclusive for many brands—Lamborghini is more apt to charge extra for them. This mentality is simply the way luxury automotive brands operate and make the bulk of their profits, by charging extra for ‘bespoke’ items and additional features. Basically, so long as certain items like the backup camera are not required on every road-going vehicle by law, companies are fairly free to set their own pricing standards for them.
