We have come a long way since the likes of Mario, Luigi and Pac-Man, (not that we do not still harbor adoration for them) case in point being Gran Turismo 5.  This game features cars so realistic, they seem to be on television.  Chosen to star among others in the new version when it hits stores in a few months?  The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The GT5 SLS AMG is rendered by the professionals at Polyphony Digital, and is a dead-ringer for the production version, yet you can drive it for far less, and far faster via Gran Turismo 5.  Polyphony Digital has invested countless hours ensuring that the exotic cars in the games drive as well as they look.

It would seem that the video game companies are going head-to-head with the film industry, as entertainment sparks billions in revenue, and really going all-out in the process.

The real-deal is set to hit the market in mid-2010, but with the official release of Gran Turismo 5 quickly approaching, luxury car buffs can grasp the virtual steering wheel and obtain a test-drive in the most life-like realm possible, short of driving the 2010 Mercedes in reality.  Or there is always the option to do-it-up in a Mercedes-Benz rental Miami style, make it sizzle.  (You could justify it as practicing for your game). 

Imagine the thrill of taking the 2010 SLS AMG top speed, with no fear of death or legal repercussions.  The game allows drivers to experience a variety of high-speed races on differing tracks, including a legend-the Nuremburg Nordschleife.
