Famed British model Twiggy is set to christen the new 450-passenger luxury yacht Seabourn Sojourn, which sailed out this past Sunday. This is the newest vessel from the Yachts of Seabourn, and she spent the weekend prior to her maiden voyage docked at Canary Wharf in London for 2 nights of gala black tie celebrations.
The name itself seems to say it all, as “Sojourn” means a stay, stopover, rest or break. So it is a rest born at sea, quite fitting for a luxury yacht charter. Sojourn takes her place as the second of 3 sister ships designed and engineered for 2011 delivery, marking success for architect and designer Bjorn Storbraaten of Yran&Storbraaten Architects AS, Oslo, Norway. The Seabourn Odyssey was delivered last summer, and made waves.
To provide a time span, Sojourn was ordered in November of 2008. The length of the luxury yacht is around 650 feet. As mentioned before, she has a capacity of 450 passengers, with a 225-stateroom layout. Surprisingly, all 225 staterooms offer an oversized living area, and of course, luxurious décor.
According to the company, Seabourn Sojourn is designed to compete with the most luxurious cruise ships and mega yacht charters available on the current market. How is this, you ask? Amenities include a two-deck spa sprawling over 11,000 feet, 2 outdoor swimming pools, 6 outdoor whirlpool spas, 4 restaurants, 6 bars and cafes with the capacity to seat over 800 guests (remember the capacity of the yacht is 450). Sojourn also features a foldout marina for passengers to practice a plethora of water sports.
After she is properly broken in, Seabourn Sojourn is scheduled for a 111-day round-the-world cruise starting in LA and ending in Southampton, England. This is a luxury yacht charter of massive proportions!
