Porsche is pushing forth a bit of competition for Ferrari in the form of a new model poised to directly appeal to Ferrari buyers. The all-new Porsche exotic sports car is still in conversation form, but the idea is captivating! Imagine a direct threat to Chicago Ferrari rentals rolling in under a Porsche label!

Porsche challenges Ferrari

According to Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller,
"It always irritated me that the most expensive 911 tops out at 250,000 euros ($360,000) and then the 918 continues starting at 750,000 euros.”
Mueller added,
"In between, Ferrari moseys around relatively comfortably and without any competition. That is where we need to be. There is still space for a larger sports car, one like the 959 that we built in the 1980s."

Porsche Panamera

Currently, Porsche has approximately 7 models in the pipeline, so a new exotic sports car to compete in Ferrari’s market would mark 8. Currently, the only similar link between Porsche and Ferrari models are the Ferrari FF Hatchback and Porsche Panamera, both 4-door luxury cars and the first of their kind from the respective brands.  It will be interesting to see what Porsche pulls out of its shiny pipes!
