Luxury carmaker Porsche has confirmed the name of its newest bundle of joy, an SUV called the Macan. The word is derived from the Indonesian word meaning ‘tiger’, and it is sure to create a roar! The name was selected to communicate the power and agility of the luxury SUV.

It was previously rumored that the name of this Porsche SUV would be the Cajun, perhaps to let everyone know that it is hot…although I find that name a bit undesirable. We first mentioned the dainty Cajun SUV back in 2010, and it appears to be making it to production finally.
Porsche name-dropped the new model along with a sneaky teaser image of its possible appearance. The image looks similar to the current Cayenne–see our Porsche Cayenne rental for a refresher. It features a 5-door layout and is lower to the ground.
