Almost since the inception of the svelte little number that is the Range Rover Evoque there have been conversations sparking about a more potent version. Now that it is past the mid-cycle update, will there be a Range Rover Evoque SVR?
The only thing better than a Range Rover Evoque SVR would be a convertible SVR..
The Range Rover Evoque practically sells itself, which is an overused statement yet is quite true in her case. That said, the main claim to fame for the Evoque is her appearance, leaving ample room for performance upgrades. While the Evoque is every inch the impressive luxury SUV one would expect from the Land Rover brand, would a more aggressive SVR version be welcomed to the competitive market? Most would not hesitate to nod yes to that question. So will there be a flashy and faster new Evoque SVR wearing sexy SVR performance badges in the near future? According to some sources, the new offering could already be in the works.
Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern made the following statement on the matter: “We started with this Range Rover Sport SVR but it’ll work right through the Range Rover range, and through Discovery’s and eventually Defenders.” McGovern went on to promise that any Rover rocking the SVR badge would be packing additional power. What that could mean is a performance variant of the standard 4-cylinders or perhaps a supercharged 3.0-liter V6. The current engine kicks out a healthy 240-280 horsepower.
The Range Rover Evoque made an enormous splash when it rolled out with design input from Victoria Beckham. It provided a decidedly feminine vibe to a sporty and aggressive machine—a blend that proved to be a success.
With the overall lifecycle of the Range Rover Evoque having approximately 3-5 years remaining, it would seem that a faster version should be coming out…fast.
