The Rolls Royce Wraith has officially emerged, and while it is the fastest Rolls ever, make no mistake—it is no sports car. Tipping the scales at a mammoth 5,000 pounds, the Wraith is no waif, but it packs enough power to earn the title as the fastest Rolls Royce ever thanks to a potent V12. After much teasing, the marquee officially unveiled the Wraith at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
The fastest production Rolls Royce ever: the 2013 Wraith pays homage to the brand’s GTs of the past
The Rolls Royce Wraith features a 2-door layout, which is a bit of a departure from the traditionally chauffeur-style luxury cars. Under the hood lurks a V12 engine kicking out 624 horses. It has an 8-speed transmission and a specialized GPS that can select the proper gears based on approaching road conditions. The 0-60 jump time for this model is an impressive 4.6 seconds, which is unheard of for such a heavy vehicle. High-performance beasts like Ferrari and Lamborghini nail the jump to 60 in the 3 second and under bracket, so this Rolls is certainly not a sports car, but it is cool to see a grand tourer with this much muscle.
The performance of this giant is impressive, as is the decadent interior. The cabin drew inspiration from luxury yachts and can leave passengers starry-eyed with the Starlight headliner, which features thousands of fiber optic lamps hand-sewn into the interior roof liner.
Overall, the new Rolls Royce Wraith pretty much resembles the Ghost with a new recessed grille and revamped interior
The Rolls Royce Wraith can downshift for approaching hills and curves, improving fuel economy along with performance specs.
