This Week in Chicago: Labor Day 2010
Everyone loves three-day weekends and this weekend should be no different for Chicago residents. The weather forecast looks promising and no work on Monday is always a good thing no matter what happens outside. For those of you who still do not have any plans this Labor Day weekend, head north of the city a few miles to Union Square for the North Coast Music Festival. The music starts Friday and continues until Sunday night and the lineup is quite impressive for such a grass-roots festival.
Overshadowed by Lollapalooza, North Coast Music Festival is often unheard of and flies under the radar of most Chicago residents. Only truly devoted musical fans are taking notice of the excitement that North Coast Music Festival is bringing to Chicago this summer. Look for headliners Damian Marley and Nas, The Chemical Brothers, and Umphrey’s Mcgee to put on an impressive show as always. However, some of the smaller stages will also be showcasing the up and coming artists from around the globe. There will also be a special Red Bull Local Stage this year featuring all the local talent trying to break through into the music scene and make it big.
Tickets are still available for just a single day or for the entire 3-day weekend. The festival kicks off Friday at 5:30 P.M. and continues into Sunday wrapping up at 10:00 Sunday night. For those of you who want even more music, check out the after-party schedule and follow your favorite artist to some late-night spots for even more of your favorite music. Want to avoid the lines and chaos of public transportation, contact Imagine Lifestyles Chicago for a luxury chauffeur service and ride to and from the festival just like the artists.
