Paul McCartneys Aston Martin Gets Top Dollar at Auction

Money couldn’t buy him love, but it could buy him an Aston Martin! Paul McCartneys Aston Martin has sold for $496,613 at RM Auctions in London. The car is a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 and McCartney is the original owner. Remember when McCartney’s 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT hit the auction block?

Paul McCartney’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5 fetched an impressive amount at auction in London.

Paul McCartney ordered the Sierra blue DB5 during the summer of 1964 and kept it for six years. During those six years, McCartney must have thoroughly enjoyed racking up around 400,000 miles on the luxury car! One could say it has been a well-loved ride.

A 1967 Time magazine profile described the scene nicely: “Bachelor Paul is a movie addict, loves ‘the look of London,’ and tools around town in a spiffy blue Aston Martin DB5.”

Options for the famous DB5 include chrome wire wheels, a Philips record player and a Motorola radio. The Beatle also ordered custom stitching on the interior leather, a fitting display of musical notes. The interior has since been redone, it was the day the music died. No word on the lucky new owner, though I am sure they have boasted about the car via Facebook!

The beast beneath the hood isn’t too bad, either!

There was another star at the RM auction, a rare Ferrari. A 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta “Tour de France” by Carrozzeria Scaglietti sold for $3.2 million! It was just one example of 32 created and packs a V12 with triple Weber carburetors. We all know how much a Ferrari 250 can demand, so that little gem comes as no surprise!
