Tesla Motors, Inc. has begun taking orders for the Tesla Roadster Sport, a superior electric sports car who can brag about its zero-emissions policy. But is the grass truly greener on the other side?
For starters, the Tesla Roadster Sport can boost occupants from 0 to 60 miles per hour in an astonishing 3.7 seconds, the standard Tesla Roadster comes in at 3.9 seconds. The Tesla Sport features a hand-wound stator and increased winding density for lower resistance and higher peak torque. Here are some other points of awe and improvement for the Tesla Roadster Sport:

The Tesla Sport is the first derivative of the company’s proprietary patented powertrain. Rumor mills speculate that Tesla will begin producing an all electric, zero-emission Tesla Model S five-passenger sedan as early as 2011-clearly this is not a company who is ever satisfied with status quo. The Tesla Roadster Sport is starting at $128,500 in the United States and deliveries began in June. Currently the company has delivered more than 150 standard Roadsters to its customers, and there are approximately 1,100 others on the waiting list. Those on the waiting list who have not taken delivery as of yet have the option to upgrade to the Tesla Roadster Sport.
