It was expected that Lamborghini would release the new Aventador at the Geneva Motor Show this year. The brand upstaged many with its fierce Lamborghini Veneno instead. Now the guessing game has ended with the 2014 version finally unveiled.
The 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP 720-4 50° Anniversario at a glance:
- The release coincides with the brand’s 50th birthday. To celebrate, horsepower has been increased from 700 up to 720 for this version. That may not seem like a lot of horses when compared to say, a LaFerrari or a Bugatti Veyron. I have to stand behind any power increase, however minimal.
- It is the same V12 engine found in the regular Aventador, it is simply recalibrated. Like a human on coffee.
- New aerodynamics kit is a full 50% more efficient than the standard Aventador.
- I am loving the racy yellow–dubbed Giallo Maggio. The name means ‘May yellow’. It is high-gloss, especially in direct sunlight. It also packs a glitter punch…if you are into that sort of thing. The shade was selected because yellow has always been the most popular color for a Lamborghini.
The cabin is tweaked with lavish new semi-aniline leather available in a combo of Italian hues. A special diamond pattern Q-Citura stitch is available with any color and was designed just for this special edition Aventador. Overall, it is a dream ride and a fantastic tribute to the Bull’s big birthday.
