Ralph Lauren’s classic Bugatti 57SC Atlantic recently took ‘Best of Show’ at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The value of the rare 1938 Bugatti is estimated at around $40 million dollars and is one of just three examples in existence.
Ralph Lauren’s Bugatti 57SC Atlantic has been displayed at shows and events around the world. The extremely rare and equally expensive Bugatti has won ‘Best of Show’ at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Just four Bugatti Atlantics were created in the 1930s. Of those four, one has mysteriously vanished, leaving just three. To guestimate the value of Lauren’s car, Peter Williamson’s Bugatti Atlantic nabbed over $40 million in a 2010 auction. While the exact amount was not disclosed, you get the general idea! These classic Bugatti cars demand top dollar and not only retain value, but also increase it exponentially.
A rare glimpse at Ralph Lauren’s prized collector car: The Bugatti Atlantic steals the show. In the video above, the car roars to life as spectators enjoy getting up close with such a rare machine.
Lauren’s Bugatti Atlantic sports a sleek black exterior with a coordinating black leather cockpit. He has owned it since the late 1980s, when he purchased it from Tom Perkins. It was restored in the 1990s, altered from the original sapphire blue theme to the more classic black.
Ralph Lauren’s exotic car collection is certainly red carpet worthy
The car’s history is interesting, as it was initially owned by R.B. Pope back in the 1930s. It was formerly nicknamed the ‘Pope Atlantic’ and is certainly among the most jaw-droppingly exorbitant vehicles in the world. Cars like this do not change hands often, and when they hit the auto show circuit, they steal the entire show.
