1955 Ferrari Monza Spider

RM Auctions has spilled that a famous 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza spider will be placed on its auction block in Monterey, California on August 19th and 20th, 2011.  The rare Ferrari’s claims to fame include winning races and its role in the 1959 film ‘On the Beach’, where it was driven by Fred Astaire.

This 1955 Ferrari 750 was driven by Phil Hill, 1961 Formula One World Champion.  One of just 35 built, this Ferrari represents a successful era for Ferrari racing, boasting a 3-liter engine and 260 prancing ponies.  If you want to get a feel for what is new with the brand, indulge in a Ferrari rental today!

RM Auctions states that this model participated in 22 races on the west coast in 1955 and 1956, resulting in two wins and seven second-place finishes.  Who wouldn’t want to own bragging rights to a classic Ferrari Formula One racecar driven by Fred Astaire in a movie?  The selling price should be interesting!
