Good Karma Vs. Bad: Fisker’s Karma MPG Scores Vary Widely

Many have embraced the Fisker Karma luxury hybrid, a sharp model seemingly ahead of its time. Even Leonardo DiCaprio owns a Fisker Karma, and held the bragging rights to being the first to order the new model! At the moment, however, many are scrambling to make sense of a gaping MPG discrepancy. By European standards, the Karma is rated at 112 mpg…yet previously, it was slapped with a 52 mpg rating by the EPA. This is a huge difference by any comparison!

The European score comes from Technicher Üeberwachungs Verein (TÜV). There is always a margin of difference in scoring between the two entities, but the Fisker Karma’s score gap is simply too large to attribute to this. The two companies really need to communicate their methods of conducting mpg testing for hybrid and electric vehicles, as they will be more abundant in the future and cooperation is key! Hey, it isn’t like the two companies are a direct threat to one another!
