Porsche Targa to be Revealed at 2014 Detroit Auto Show

The long-rumored Porsche Targa has been spotted testing in what appears to be complete form, and the company has confirmed that it will be revealed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The Porsche Targa will arrive as a 2015 model with some features dedicated to its past. Some photos have been popping up online, and I cannot wait to see it take the stage at the show.

Porsche has finally confirmed intentions to unveil the 2015 Porsche 911 Targa in Detroit next month.

The Detroit Auto Show will run from January 18th-26th, 2014 with press preview days on the 13th and 14th. More leaks and excitement will emerge during the press days, solidifying the details prior to the official unveil. The Targa is a version of the latest 991-series Porsche 911. While there have been other 911 Targa models since 1967, and the latest will be modern with nods to its past.

Overall, the 2015 Porsche Targa looks very much like any other cookie-cutter 911 sports car. This one boasts a removable roof panel, roll bar and the rear window wraps around for panoramic views. Aside from the cool new roof features, it will likely be similar to the Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S.

There are just a few leaked photos of the new Targa out there, and it seems to be shapely.

Porsche is mum about the powertrain, but the following estimates could be close:

  • 3.4-liter flat six engine kicking out 350 horses
  • A Targa S version could pack a 3.6 or 3.8-liter flat six with 400 horses.
  • Rear wheel drive

Wait for the 2014 Detroit Motor Show to reveal the Porsche Targa and many more exotic sports cars for next year.
