German tuner Gemballa pleased the masses at the Geneva Motor Show last year with their performance package for the McLaren MP4-12C. They have wowed once again with the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Gemballa GT spider, with an aerodynamic kit and lavish interior upgrades. Listen to another member of the family, the 2013 McLaren P1, in the video at the bottom of post!
The talented minds at Gemballa have worked their magic on the convertible McLaren 12C, offering an aerodynamic package that goes way heavy on the carbon fiber.
The tweaks for the McLaren GT convertible are like the coupe version, purely aesthetic. As of yet, no high performance upgrades have been mentioned, so we do not look for any before the Geneva show this year. The changes are not a carbon copy of the coupe sibling, though they are a bit similar.
The Gemballa McLaren MP4-12C spider package features:
- Lightweight and stunning carbon fiber aero kit
- Revised front
- New rear bumper
- Revamped side skirts
- New tailpipes
- A special logo kit
- 21-inch Gemballa GForged-one wheels
The new Gemballa wheels are offered in ‘Black magic’, ‘gunmetal’, or the customer’s preference. The interior changes include a generous amount of Alcantara upholstery, and updated customizable instrument dials.
The standard 2013 McLaren convertible specs:
- The same 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine
- 7-speed SSG dual-clutch transmission
- 616 horsepower
- Nails the 0-60 jump in a blistering 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 204 miles per hour. That is 3 miles per hour less than the coupe).
The Gemballa McLaren 12C convertible GT is slated to debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, where the complete package will be on display. The pricing is estimated at $62,000 based on current exchange rates for the upgrades.
