2014 Porsche 911 Targa Makes Official Debut in Detroit

The 2014 Detroit Auto Show has begun, and with it new model years rolling out from all the top brands. The 2014 Porsche 911 Targa took the stage during the press preview days, and it is a diminutive topless stunner in bold blue.

Specifications

There will be two Targa models for the 2014 year, including the Targa 4 and the Targa 4S. The Porsche 911 Targa 4 is packing a 3.4-liter kicking out 350 horses, hitting the 0-60 jump in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 175 miles per hour. The Targa 4S has a 3.8-liter with 400 horses, catapulting it to 60 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 183 miles per hour.

Both models are all-wheel-drive and boast a wider body to accommodate the more powerful drivetrains. For increased driver safety, they also include Porsche Traction Management. The Targas also utilize Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

The new Targas stay true to that familiar Porsche 911 shape that includes the cool wrap-around rear screen and B-pillar design. The top drops in about 20 seconds with the convenient push of a button and the center section slips back behind the rear seats. It is a soft top with a glass rear window. Note: the convertible top can only be lowered and raised while parked. Interior changes are not really noticeable.

The 2014 Porsche 911 Targa cars will start at $102,595 and $117,195 for the 4S. Deliveries should begin as soon as summer and we will be seeing some of these tiny beauties on the roadways. With the chosen hue of blue and their tiny size, it may be difficult not to confuse with a Mazda Miata…I kid, I kid.
