The 1980s were a special time, and now some lucky individual can own a unique slice from that period: A 1986 Ferrari driven by Michael Jackson in a 1987 Pepsi commercial called “The Chopper”. Read it aloud to yourself again in order to get the full effect of how awesome that is!
Fun fact: Testarossa means ‘red head’ in Italian.
Now that everyone is finished indulging in “The Chopper”, the Ferrari is a 1986 Testarossa will hit the auction block at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale in just a few days, as the event runs from January 12th-19th, 2014. There are hundreds of cars changing hands that week–it will be automotive insanity. Among the more notable cars at the auction are: The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII driven by the late Paul Walker in 2 Fast 2 Furious, the Hudson Commodore from Driving Miss Daisy and a 2008 Bugatti Veyron owned by Simon Cowell.
About the 1968 Ferrari Testarossa
The Testarossa for sale was not only a celebrity for a time, it is a convertible. The black car was transformed into a drop-top specifically for the commercial. It packs a punch with a 4.9-liter flat V12 kicking out 390 Prancing Horses. While it was not as fast as its sibling, the Ferrari F40, it could hit the 0-60 mile per hour jump in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of approximately 180 miles per hour.
