A Tata Nano is an inexpensive 4-passenger city car created by Tata Motors primarily for the Indian domestic market. Remarkably, the Tata Nano is about the size and shape of an iPod Nano, it is uncanny! To understand the intentions of this mini-car, as of December 2010 you can own one for $2,900 USD. Not only is the name horrid, it is quite possibly the cheapest car in the world. But wait…it gets worse!
A special edition Tata Nano has been created, perhaps by a mad-scientologist in a secret lair in India, that costs $4.6 million dollars. That is double the cost of a Bugatti Veyron! I feel queasy.
So what do you get for the extra few bucks? So glad you asked…
True to the Indian tendency toward the flashy, the blingy, the blinding and the gaudy, the special edition Tata shall be encrusted with precious gems and gold in efforts to commemorate the Gold Plus stores 5,000th anniversary.
Tata Nano Gold Plus
Apparently the connection is that Tata Motors has collaborated with Gold Plus for this insane project.
Tata Motors has it all people, the cheapest and the most expensive bizarre exotic car on the planet!
Tata Nano
I will close with some humorous cost cutting features that make the standard Tata Nano so affordable:
• No air conditioning
• No airbags
• No radio or CD player
• One wing mirror only
• 3 lug nuts per wheel…ah, the safety!
• No power steering
• One windshield wiper
• The trunk is accessible only from the inside, no hatch
• 2 cylinders can chug you along the treacherous Indian roadways while you contemplate the fact that many drivers have only one mirror that they likely do not use
