Dear Imagine Lifestyles,

I am a Miami local, but my family and I are relatively new to the area (less than one year).  We love the city and especially the beach.  We go out for dinner at what seems like a different and more exotic restaurant every weekend, and find that there are many things to keep us entertained.  I love your luxury blog and the exotic feel that Miami offers us for our lifestyle.

My question is what events are put together by the community that we may not be aware of?  The longer we are here, the more we want to become a part of the community.  I know there are likely some really interesting local traditions that we could adopt as a family.  Any tips would be appreciated.

Thank you for following our luxury blog, we appreciate your interest in what we have to offer!  I am happy to hear that you and your family are acclimating to Miami with such a positive attitude and excitement to explore and immerse yourselves into the community.

Miami is a wonderful place to call home, for all the reasons you named and about a billion more it seems!  There are always events, restaurants, beaches and more to keep you entertained.  As for local community events, there are always wonderful things organized for nearly any taste or style. 

For a family, look into local theatre events, such as the City Theatre, an award-winning theater company, dedicated to the discovery and production of new short-form drama.  The month of June, the annual ‘Summer Shorts Festival’ will be performed by the troop at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Downtown Miami and also at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in July.  It is an ideal family event featuring a lively selection of original short plays, dramas and comedies. 

Another cool family oriented local event is at the MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Arts).  On the last Friday of every month at 8pm they host a free jazz concert under the stars, rain or shine.  It is an event designed to bring the community together, so bring a blanket and your favorite snacks and let the light, smooth jazz light you up inside as you meet members of your community in a low-key setting.   To make it more luxurious, you could always drive a Cadillac Escalade rental, to treat your family.
