The Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept: What Dreams Should Come

There is truly nothing like a car show to rejuvenate and recreate. We all have a few special favorites from shows gone by, like this exquisite Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion concept from 2010. No booth babe could outshine this machine, not even Cindy Crawford in her prime (had she been a mere booth babe, that is).

Gentlemen: We have takeoff! The otherworldly Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion concept.

The Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion concept appears to open up to a new world, spacecraft sci-fi style. For this model and many others, design house Bertone exceeded limits and expectations to produce a work of art powered by horses.

While the exterior is all supercar, the aspect of sheer wonder occurs when those reverse hinged scissor doors reach for the sky. Protruding upward at around ten feet, the doors reveal that tantalizing teal cockpit in all its futurama glory. The reverse hinged scissor doors actually engulf part of the front fender, lifting it up. The overall shape is perfection.

The cockpit is the true star here. While the racing style teal seating is enticing enough, notice the white winding console serving as the spine. The LCD monitors connected to the spine provide the feel of a live computer from a film. The winding white spine finishes off the door panels as well.

Under the hood:

  • The Pandion concept is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.
  • It packs a 4.7-liter V8 pushing out 444 horses with a svelte curb weight of 2,773 pounds.
  • The 0-60 sprint is achieved in 3.9 seconds with an estimated top speed of 200 miles per hour.
  • It made its debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the 100th birthday of Alfa Romeo.

The wheel is racing inspired

The rear segment could challenge Terminator Judgment Day with its active metals gouging forth at seemingly random intervals. The exotic blend of metal geometry continues to the wheels for a cohesive approach. Why was this magnificent machine not mass-produced, and moreover, why is there not one in my garage at this very moment? I am looking at you, Santa.
