Big things came from Aston Martin at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. The luxury marque unveiled the new 12-cylinder upgrade on the V8 Vantage. The 2010 V12 Vantage has a 510 horsepower, 6-liter engine and does zero to 62 in 4.2 seconds. The V12 Vantage engine is also enhanced over the 6-liter V12 engine of the DB9, with a ‘by-pass’ engine air intake port that opens up at 5500 rpm. Revised induction system and re-profiled air inlet ports, the means to an end which is improved performance.
Aston Martin kept the body on the V12 Vantage basically unchanged except to make room in front for the bigger engine. The redesigned front dually adds aerodynamic equilibrium at 190 mph top speeds. New technical highlights feature a rear lightweight carbon fiber diffuser, accentuated brake cooling system and twin air intake system. Though, the best feature is the ability to toggle between two powertrains at the touch of a button. The V12 Vantage interior remains high-tech, sophisticated and classic Aston Martin.
If you’re not into numbers, the bottom line is that the V12 Vantage is what’s good from Aston Martin now. The 2010 Vantage is the best of the best of Aston Martin. Production will be limited to about 500 examples per year so don’t think about it. The Vantage is for the bold, be bold, take advantage in 2009.
