Corvette Announces New Perk for 2011 Buyers
Very exciting news came out of Detroit today as GM announced that buyers who order a 2011 Corvette ZR1 or Z06 will now have an option to help assemble their own engines at the Build Center. Customers will have a chance to put together the high-performance LS7 and LS9 engines in Wixom, MI, where GM builds all of their high-perform
ance engines by hand.
For those of you who are not in the garage changing your own oil and rotating the tires every weekend, GM will provide a skilled technician to supervise for each build. Estimated build time is roughly 6 hours, which will give each customer the chance to assemble the engine and make any necessary adjustments. Estimated cost to participate in this one-of-a-kind program is roughly $6,000. The 2011 Corvette just entered into production and will be on sale shortly. GM expects customers to begin building their own engines at the Wixom Plant within 30 days.
