Exotic Car Tip: The Bugatti Veyron Runs Better on Land

A Texas exotic car collector went for a very expensive spin recently, with his million-dollar Bugatti Veyron ending up saturated with mud and soot in a 3-foot deep salt marsh.  Nice.  Please join us in a collective sigh.

Word is the Texan, who has yet to be named, was distracted by a pelican (who must have swooped in for a closer look at the wheels), causing him to drop his cell phone.  As he leaned over to retrieve said cell phone, he veered off the road and straight into a saltwater marsh.  Ahh…luxurious leather interior, an engine capable of exceeding 253 miles per hour, and that “new car scent”…er…new salt scent, blended with an earthy mud aroma.  He had just purchased the Bugatti from an exotic car dealer in Arkansas the previous month.Bugatti Veyron Submerged in Lake  It is enough to bring a tear to one’s eye.

The  stunt-driver hails from Lufkin, Texas and is an avid collector of exotic sports cars.  The distracted driver was reportedly not speeding.  The shocker of the story, sans sunken treasure, is that Gilbert Harrison, the wrecker driver from MCH Truck and Auto told the local newspaper that the driver did not seem overly upset about his new million-dollar submarine.

The man is now something of a celebrity, having received several calls from celebrities, including California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  All popularity aside, we are not sure if we will be interested in putting him behind the wheel of one of our exotic rental cars.
