The Gillet Vertigo, Soon to be Famous Supercar? You Decide

Belgian car manufacturer Gillet is still touting its supercar, the Vertigo.  Imagine Lifestyles received an email from Gillet informing us of its latest endeavor.  The luxury company launched the Vertigo in 1992, and continues to improve upon it today.  This may be a new supercar as far as years are concerned, but it has already Gillet Vertigo 5taken the Guinness world record for the 0-100km/h (62 miles per hour) in 3.26 seconds.  Ok, we are listening.

So clearly the new guys know what they are doing in the engine department, and they are perched to launch a new Vertigo for September 2010.  Will it be another record holder?  Will there be a market for it?  You decide, leave your opinions in the comment section below.

Now let’s get down to specs on the Gillet Vertigo.  It is called the Vertigo 5 (for some reason I am taken back to Johnny 5 from the old movie “Short Circuit”).  It is powered by a large 4.0-liter version of the Alfa Romeo V6, and can hit the 0-60 mark in about 3.26 seconds.  Hey, at least they haven’t slowed down in the speed department!

And it happens to be a street-legal racecar, so it should be marketable on a large scale.  So what else makes the Vertigo special?  How about an all-carbon fiber honeycomb chassis.  Yes, this new supercar is dressed to thrill.

We will keep you posted as more details come in, such as official pricing and launch dates.  It will be interesting to see if it can hold its own against the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and other exotic cars and luxury car rentals.
