Something decidedly different has made a debut at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show. The 2014 Lykan Hypersport by W Motors is a new breed of supercar, poised to make a position for itself among the elite. Does this newcomer have what it takes to compete amongst true hypercars? Lexus was the newbie not long ago, when it created its masterpiece, the LFA supercar. The LFA marked the first-ever attempt by the brand to compete among hypercars.
The Lykan supercar by W Motors boasts razor sharp lines on its rather aggressive body
W Motors created the Lykan Hypersport with plenty of power to compete, though horses are not everything when it comes to the packaging and guts of a real supercar. Let’s check out the specs before we proceed:
2014 Lykan Hypersport:
- Twin-turbocharged flat-six engine
- 750 horsepower
- 737 pound-feet of torque
- Capable of nailing the 0-60 mile per hour marker in 2.8 seconds, which is faster than many leading supercar brands
- Top speed is 242 miles per hour…a claim that is simply begging to be challenged.
The specifications are certainly impressive, especially the 2.8 second 0-60 jump and 242 mph top speed. The body is rambunctious for a beginner, with an aggressive countenance that demands attention. The chassis is said to be carbon fiber, and there could be a gold plated hood and signature diamond-encrusted LED lights. Hey, if you are going to do it, do it right.
There will be just 7 units of the Lykan Hypersport produced, and each will be a substantial investment at $3.4 million dollars. Rumors are swirling that the companyhas received orders for 100 units, which has not been proven.
