It has been a powerfully productive year for the minds at Mercedes-Benz. The next generation of the brand took the stage at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and included: The Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG, Mercedes-Benz S 600, Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe and the new C-Class. Not a bad looking family unit, eh?
The Mercedes-Benz lineup (or part of it) did some showing off in Geneva this week. The new family members are stunning and will be rolling into showrooms around the world very soon.
The star of the show for the brand was the range topper, the Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG. The beast churns forth 630 horses via a 6.0-liter V12 engine housed in carbon fiber. The S 65 AMG has been eagerly anticipated and demolishes the 0-60 sprint in 4.3 seconds.
Up next is the Mercedes-Benz S 600. It packs a 6.0-liter V12 also, though it kicks out fewer horses at 523. The S 600 is a hare slower at the 0-60 jump with a time of 4.6 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz Media Night featured the new Apple CarPlay system. The system works through the iPhone, where the lovely Siri can read text messages through the car’s speakers and allow you to verbally retrieve voicemails and answer the phone the same way. This is all a nod to safer driving while technology continues to dominate our lives. CarPlay is a user-friendly iOS platform with a touchscreen–though it is driven by the owner’s device rather than being its own separate entity. The CarPlay system will be available through Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Hyundai, Honda, Jaguar and Volvo in the near future.
