The constant clash of the engines continues annually in a battle to see which hypercar is faster. While the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has managed to hang on to the title of ‘World’s Fastest Production Car’ for a few years, that does not guarantee that it will have it next year. There are many companies vying for that coveted title, but for the time being, these are the fastest supercars on earth!
The fastest supercars of 2012-2013:
The reigning champion, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Top speed of 267 mph, 0-60 in 2.4 blistering seconds.
Hennessey Venom GT. We love this underdog with attitude, and all 1200 horses it is packing. Top speed claims vary widely according to source, but it seems to be just below the Veyron SS, perhaps faster with the right driver. The 0-60 jump is 2.5 seconds for the Venom GT. The long-standing challenge from Hennessey to Bugatti has yet to be accepted.
Koenigsegg Agera R. Top speed is 260 miles per hour, which is about even with the Hennessey Venom GT. A race between the top 3 contenders would be epic!
SSC Ultimate Aero. Top speed is 257 mph and it nails the 0-60 jump in 2.7 seconds. There are 1183 horses under the hood, not too far behind the top dogs. The Ultimate Aero was the fastest car in the world from 2007-2010, when the Bugatti Veyron blasted past its top speed.
9ff GT9-R. The top speed is 257 mph and the 0-60 is 2.9. $695,000 buys 1120 horses, if you are one of the lucky 20 owners!
Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo. Top speed is 248 mph and the 0-60 jump is 2.8 seconds.
Koenigsegg CCX. Top speed is 245 mph, 0-60 jump is 3.2 seconds.
McLaren F1. Top speed is 240 mph and the 0-60 jump is 3.2 seconds.
Zenvo ST1. Top speed is 233 mph, 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.
Gumpert Apollo. Top speed is 225 mph, 0-60 in 3.0 seconds sharp.
