Would you like to live in the Playboy Mansion? Well, you can! Okay, okay it won’t be in the current mansion located in Los Angeles, but you can buy a unit in the original Playboy Mansion here in Chicago.
For only $2.9 million, you can buy a 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom apartment in the original Playboy mansion, which is located at 1340 N. State Street.
Hugh Hefner bought this building in 1959. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, the Playboy mansion hosted weekly parties, a regularly held auditions for new Playboy “Playmates” at this location.
During the 1970s, Hefner began to split his time between the Chicago mansion and the Los Angeles mansion. In 1975, he permanently moved to the LA mansion; and since that time, Hugh Hefner donated the building, which was later converted into seven single-family residences.
Not only will you own a piece of history, but you can also live a luxury building that once had this motto hanging over its door—“Si non oscillas, noli tintinnare.” It means: “If you don’t swing, don’t ring.”
