What a Concept -The Most Powerful Porsche Ever

Porsche has done far more than please with its latest concept to production model, the 2011 911 GT2 RS.  This is the most powerful, street legal Porsche to date.

Ripping out 620 twin-turbocharged horses from its 3.6-liter engine, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS also provides the best-in-class power-to-weight ratio along with increased fuel economy, for all you greenies out there.  I am impressed, and green with envy.  Let’s examine the specs.

With the capacity to hit the famed 0-60 mark in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 205 miles per hour, this Porsche also destroyed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a cool 7 minutes and 18 seconds.   Clearly, this is an exotic car, or perhaps luxury rental car, which can literally run with the big dogs.

The 2011 911 Porsche has dropped 154 pounds, revealing a svelte and sophisticated body capable of more speed, tipping the scales at 3,020 with the before mentioned increase in horsepower.  You could say this model has 90 more horsepower, but is significantly less filling.

Porsche shaved some weight off by using cloth straps rather than traditional interior door handles, and implementing a simple 6-speed manual gearbox rather than the new Doppelkupplung dual-clutch tranny.  Also, the interior cabin is relatively bare, as there is really not much need for navigation on racetracks.

What was worth the extra weight is the Adaptive Suspension Management system that remains intact in this model.  It also features the Stability Management system for drivers, to switch off stability and traction control when needed.

I love Porsche, because they basically make street-legal racecars.  Rumor has it the GT2 RS concept will see production; yet will be limited to a run of 500 models.  With a meaty price tag of $245,000, it is not likely you will see many of these around, unless you are on a track.
