The 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS has been officially unveiled and it is a vision in red, just in time for the holidays. With a base model Porsche Cayenne and the turbo GTS sibling, it is shaping up to be a good year for the model.
The 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS at a glance:
- This model is packing somewhat heavy artillery in the form of a 3.6-liter V6 with 443 pound-feet of torque and 440 horses in the stable.
- Performance figures are as follows: It nails the 0-60 mile per hour jump in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of approximately 163 miles per hour.
- Available Sport Chrono package.
- Standard equipment includes sport exhaust, flared wheel arches, lowered suspension, special air intakes for that turbo.
The base 2015 Porsche Cayenne will have a 3.6-liter V6 as well, churning forth only 300 horses and crawling to the 60 MPH marker in a relaxed 7.7 seconds. With such a huge difference in performance figures with the same engine, it certainly seems that the turbo GTS is worth the extra money. Especially since adding the Sport Chrono package to the base model only improves time by a second.
Tragically, neither variant of the 2015 Porsche Cayenne will offer a manual transmission. They will have the new 8-speed Tiptronic S automated gearbox. The new trend of eliminating manual transmissions in favor of new technology is spreading, much to the chagrin of many dedicated auto enthusiasts. Pricing will start at $58k for the base, with the GTS requiring upwards of $95k to get her to go home with you. The Cayenne model has been nothing but a success for the brand, and this lineup should be no different.
