With the production of the blisteringly fast Bugatti Veyron drawing to a close, rumors continue about a possible Super Veyron. While the guestimated specifications and even some renderings may be out there for all to drool over, Bugatti made the following statement on the matter: “Only after that can we see if there is time and appetite for such a program. It would be expensive and time-consuming, so we must be sure it is worth it.”
A turbocharged Bugatti Veyron with 1500+ horses is definitely worth it sir
Top speeds for the proposed Super Veyron could easily exceed 280 miles per hour. The current fastest production car is the Veryon Super Sport, which unleashes 1,200 horses compliments of a quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder muscle for a top speed of 268 miles per hour. Buyers of the Veyron SS may be disappointed upon discovery that the production version speed is limited to a mere 258 miles per hour. That is what high-performance aftermarket tuners are there for.
Pricing
The prices of premium brand supercars continue to rise, with some bypassing previous rates by millions. Look at the latest offering from Lamborghini. The Lamborghini Veneno emerged this year with a $4 million dollar price tag. Previous Lambo cars barely scraped the million marker, with the possible exception of the Aventador. Bugatti Veyron cars always surpass the one million mark, sometimes reaching multiples. But rumors are estimating that the Super Veyron could command a cost of $7.5 million–which is the highest ever. While it is quite common for rare collector cars to sell for exorbitant rates, it is a bit shocking for a new production car to go for so much. We will have to stay tuned to see what Bugatti rolls out next.
