Things have been catapulting forward since Audi’s acquisition of Ducati last year. Now there are preliminary leaks of an Audi Motorrad concept based on the Ducati 848 superbike. Can Audi transition from supercars to adding superbikes to the lineup?
Watch out, BMW! Audi may be your competition in the world of luxury bikes and cars
Inspired by Audi’s entry into the luxury motorbike arena, French designer Thibault Devauze created the Audi Motorrad concept bike and it is gaining traction. Devauze knows a thing or two about this sort of thing, as he previously interned at Audi, Ducati and Land Rover in the design departments.
Devauze envisioned a version of a potential first Audi motorcycle with a distinctive silhouette, aggressive edges and a severely raised tail. The draft was inspired by a visit to the Audi museum in Ingolstadt, where a plethora of DKW bikes were on display. Devauze stated: “The idea was pretty simple: the first competitor of Audi is BMW, and BMW sell bikes. Audi has a massive heritage in terms of bikes with the DKW brand and is always looking for new markets – so bikes represent a good opportunity.”
Specifications for the Audi Motorrad concept bike are as follows:
- Powered by a Ducati-sourced 850cc, Desmodromic 2-cylinder engine
- Double-clutch gearbox
- Audi’s Ultra Lightweight technology is employed for the chassis, combining carbon fiber and light alloys
- An E-tron version could be made easily, according to the designer

From the details gleaned so far, a luxury motorbike bearing the Audi badge is not completely off the radar. The fact that Audi now owns one of the leading luxury bike badges, Ducati, certainly will not hurt the cause!
