The action-packed, grueling adrenaline machine that is the Nürburgring 24-Hour Race has exhausted participants yet again, leaving luxury brand Audi with bragging rights to victory! This marks the first overall victory for Audi in the famous and extremely lengthy race of endurance, quality and aggressiveness.
Surprisingly, there was very little rain on the parade this year!
The Nürburgring 24 is an accident-filled around-the-clock marathon that would leave spectators on the edge of their seats…if they did not have to break for sleep!

The No. 3 Audi Sport Team Phoenix Audi R8 LMS ultra of Marc Basseng, Christopher Haase, Frank Stippler and Markus Winkelhock led a 1-2 finish for the brand, thanks to the demise of many fellow competitors in the premier SP9 category. Of the 31 GT3 specified cars starting in the 40th edition of the ADAC Zurich 24h-Race, just 16 were classified after a fierce and unforgiving 24 hours.

According to Markus Winkelhock,
“It was a great weekend for us, for the whole team. We had a perfect car that had no problems. It’s just amazing to stand on the podium. It was a really tough race and it was really competitive.”
Dieter Gass, Head of Racing Commitments at Audi Sport, did not mince words:
“For three years the Audi R8 LMS was always the best GT3 car at the Nürburgring. Now we have taken overall victory in the fight with seven other brands. Over the last 24 hours nothing whatsoever was handed to us on a plate. Our victorious drivers and teams produced a fantastic, consistent and error free performance.”
