BMW M3 CRT
The good people at BMW have just unveiled another exotic car innovation, in the form of the limited edition BMW M3 CRT. The CRT stands for Carbon Racing Technology, and the production process for the carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components has been dramatically improved! Is this the future of luxury racing?
Before dreaming about slipping behind the wheel of a racecar, get familiar with the amazing brand with a BMW rental from Imagine Lifestyles Luxury Rentals in a city near you…you know, for a warm-up lap.

The BMW M3 CRT body is banging, with a honeycomb structured CFRP bonnet that is supposedly as durable as steel, yet light as a feather. Ok, so it is not quite featherweight, but it is a full 50% lighter than the M3 saloon’s bonnet and weighs 45kg less than the street version.

The tough and light CFRP luxury racing material is also used on the exotic racecar’s rear spoiler, front fascia and the bucket-style seats. The BMW M3 CRT has a sports exhaust system and a titanium muffler and a 7-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic, satellite navigation and parking sensors. You know, because it is challenging to locate parking on a racetrack!

Only a handful of examples will be produced, just 67 to be exact, and BMW may use the CFRP for the body of the “i” cars as early as 2013.
