A Bugatti racing car purchased for a mere £60 (approximately $96,000 USD) has certainly turned an impressive profit, selling for £430,000 ($689,000 USD) at auction in the UK!  This slice of luxury racing history has gotten sweeter, and pricier, over time!

Rare Bugatti nabs killer profit

The Bugatti was formerly owned by Jack Perkins of Ruby, Warwickshire, purchased in Nottinghamshire and modified for the track.  Perkins was an engineer for the Indy 500 race in 1936 and the U.S. National Championship in 1938, with an obvious weakness for racecars. His widow opted to exhibit the rare Bugatti at the Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset, finally auctioning it off for a hefty ROI!  As is common in luxury car auction standards and practices, the identity of the new owner is under wraps.
