As the NBA regular season winds down and the playoffs are looming, one of the teams playing superbly well is the Miami Heat.  Superstar, Dwayne Wade, is leading the way and Miami’s climb in the standings lately is igniting plenty of enthusiasm among South Florida basketball fans.

As the team heads for a sixth playoff appearance in seven seasons, Miami put together the NBA’s longest win streak of the season, with 9 straight victories.

As the final week of regular season play began, Miami had moved to 10 games above 500 for the first time since the 2005-06 season when they went on to win an NBA title.

If they hope to get back to that lofty perch, they will have to continue to be “hot.” As always, it will be a tough road through the playoffs. Being in the East, the Heat will have to deal with the likes of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers as well as the always-tough Boston Celtics and, of course, their Florida rivals, the Orlando Magic.

But suffice to say there will be playoff basketball and plenty of excitement and buzz around the American Airlines Arena in the next few weeks.
