Imported From Detroit: A Maserati SUV Made in America

Fiat CEO Serigo Marchionne has been toying with the idea of an American made Maserati SUV since last January, and the idea seemed quite far-fetched. Marchionne revealed how serious he is about the idea by unveiling the Maserati Kubang SUV at the Frankfurt Motor Show and announcing plans to build it for 2013 delivery at the assembly plant in Detroit!

It is exciting to imagine an SUV joining our fleet of Maserati rentals in the foreseeable future!

Get a closer look at the Maserati Kubang in the video above!

The Maserati Kubang will be built alongside Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos, which just seems insane, but it is fantastic to bring part of the brand and the much-needed jobs to America. Members of the United Auto Workers and a number of new hires will craft the luxury SUV into reality, essentially imported from Detroit like the Chrysler ad featuring Eminem…and the Audi Eminem music ad lawsuit that followed…follow link for that crazy story!

The Maserati SUV will be Ferrari-powered, as I previously mentioned in January. The model will start at $118,000, though if anything about the vehicle smells sub-par to potential buyers, Marchionne’s vision could black-out fast.Don’t miss our fleet of luxury SUV rentals on your way out!
