The secret is out, and it is sounding off to a different tune! The latest Ferrari supercar sounds like this: LaFerrari. The brand wants to be clear, however, that it is simply one word and not “Ferrari LaFerrari”. LaFerrari is one word, like Madonna, Prince, and Beyoncé. The recently released Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is undoubtedly enduring some serious sibling rivalry this week.
LaFerrari made its debut at the 83rd annual Geneva International Motor Show after maintaining a teasing session that rivaled endurance races.
Let us move past the interesting (and by interesting I do mean odd) name choice and hit up what is lurking beneath the hood, because it more than overpowers the songbird title. The Enzo successor is packing some serious power!
LaFerrari specifications and details:
- This hybrid (yes, she is a hybrid!) packs a potent 6.3-liter V12 kicking out 789 horses. If that makes you feel guilty, just factor in the additional 161 horses offered by the electric motor mounted at the back of the 7-speed automated transaxle, bringing the total number of Prancing Horses up to 950. LaFerrari, indeed!
- The svelte curb weight of just 2,800 pounds is light for a hybrid. The lack of seating does shave off some lb’s…the seats are carved into the carbon fiber tub. (If that sounds uncomfortable, at least the wheel and pedals adjust to the driver). If that still sounds like a deal breaker, you are far too difficult to impress.
- LaFerrari destroys the 0-60 sprint in less than 3 seconds. It is one of the few hypercars in existence capable of that claim!
- Top speed is 230 miles per hour
LaFerrari has obliterated the F12’s track record of 1 minute 23 seconds around the company’s test track in Fiorano, Italy – by more than three seconds.
Ferrari promises “absolute” capability “without any form of compromise in any area” from the LaFerrari. Is that a challenge, McLaren P1? There will only be 499 units produced, and according to the Horse, the initial production run is spoken for! While no exact price was announced, the $1 million range has been widely reported. Relax, you can rent our Ferrari supercars for much less.
