That highly-publicized object of fascination that is the one-off Lamborghini Egoista has found a forever home. It seems the Egoista will be placed on permanent display at the Lamborghini museum, which makes a rather fitting home for the specimen. Will museum visitors of the future look at the model in much the same way we view cars like the Model T today, as a relic of the past?
Those in Italy or visiting the fine country can now get within proximity of the rare Lamborghini Egoista one-off supercar. She will reside at the Lamborghini Museum with a permanent exhibit.
The Lamborghini Egoista is not packing the 700 horses that sibling Aventador has–it only has 600. What it does have is an entirely unique appearance that likely will never be copied. She was created to assist with what turned out to be elaborate events to commemorate the Lamborghini brand’s 50th birthday last year. Perhaps the largest segment of the celebrations was a massive 350 car hot lap around Italy, where the Egoista was revealed.
The Egoista is packing power, aesthetics and ample ego.
In her most raw form the Lamborghini Egoista is a special edition Gallardo with an arsenal of tweaks. Power is derived from a modified Gallardo 5.2-liter V10 engine pushing out plenty of power. The power source is where the similarities between the siblings end, however. While the appearance has certainly left many jaws on the floor, the inspiration actually came from the air: an Apache helicopter. Notice the side flanks drawing to mind a Raging Bull prepared to charge molded perfectly with aeronautically inspired materials and that telltale single seat. Other special touches include a racing harness, head-up display and that delicious carbon fiber.
The cockpit is designed to mimic that of an Apache helicopter…with signature supercar cues blended in to the mix.
It is truly a shame there can be just one, but at least she will be displayed for the public.
