For those of you who have been following the case of Florida attorney Scott Rothstein’s ponzi scheme, the latest is the auction that will be held to sell his fleet of luxury cars and yachts. Might I mention that the inventory is quite shocking, in fact, it is jaw-dropping.
The 10 luxury cars up for the auction chopping-block are as follows:
• A 2008 Bugatti Veyron
• A 2009 Bentley Continental GTC
• A 2007 Rolls-Royce Phantom
• A 2009 Ferrari F430 Spyder
• A 1967 Chevy Corvette convertible
• A 2007 Ford Expedition limousine
• A 2008 Cadillac Escalade
• A 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR
• A 2009 Maserati GranTurismo
• A 2010 Lamborghini LP-670SV
But wait, there are still luxury watercraft and a yacht to go under the gavel! They are as follows:
• A 2007 87-foot Warren yacht
• A 2005 33-foot Riva Aquariva Super
• A 1999 55-foot SeaRay Sundancer
• A 2006 Nor-Tech Supercat
• Several Yamaha personal watercraft
Proceeds of the luxury auction will benefit the victims of Scott Rothstein’s ponzi scheme. This seems fitting, as it was technically stolen from them, it should be returned. The super luxe toys, cars and yacht will be on display for the public to admire prior to the June 3rd auction at the Broward County Convention Center. There will be a bidding preview for Rothstein’s 10 luxury cars in Miami, and the preview for the watercraft will be in Fort Lauderdale.
This must all be very painful for Rothstein, who agreed to forfeit the luxury cars and watercraft as part of his plea agreement. He plead guilty to five felonies, including running a $1.4 billion dollar ponzi scheme from his offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The penalty could be up to 100 years in prison, and his sentencing is scheduled for June 9th. I guess his freedom is looking sweeter than his fleet of luxury cars and yacht.
